Privacy Policy
This policy explains what The Homeschool Compass collects, why it is needed, and the choices parents have about their family records.
Effective August 20, 2026
Who we are
The Homeschool Compass is provided by Inspire Guide Nurture. Questions and privacy requests can be sent to Paloma@inspireguidenurture.com.
Information we collect
- Parent account information, including name, email address, and sign-in activity.
- Family-created homeschool information, including child names or nicknames, grade levels, lessons, attendance, books, goals, meals, chores, trips, expenses, notes, and school-year settings.
- Files a parent chooses to upload, such as photos, PDFs, and work samples.
- Subscription status and billing identifiers. Stripe processes card and payment details; The Homeschool Compass does not store complete card numbers.
- Questions sent to Ask Compass, relevant planner context needed to answer them, token and cost estimates used to manage the monthly allowance, and optional helpful or not-helpful feedback.
- If a family follows an evaluator partner link or enters a partner code, a limited referral record used to credit the partner. The partner receives aggregate counts and partner-earnings information, not the family’s identity or records.
- Basic technical and support information needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service.
How we use information
We use information to provide and synchronize the planner, create parent-requested portfolios, answer parent-initiated AI questions, manage memberships, provide support, prevent abuse, and improve reliability. We do not sell personal information or use family records for targeted advertising.
Children’s information
The service is designed for parents and guardians, not for children to create independent accounts. Parents decide what child information to enter and should use a nickname when a full legal name is unnecessary. If you believe a child submitted information without appropriate adult involvement, contact us so we can address it.
Service providers
We use specialized providers to run the service, including Supabase for accounts, database, and private file storage; OpenAI for parent-requested AI assistance; Stripe for billing; and our hosting provider for delivery of the web app. These providers process information only as needed to provide their services and under their own contractual and privacy commitments.
Ask Compass and AI
Ask Compass sends the parent’s question and limited family-planner context to the OpenAI API only when the parent asks for help. The application requests that responses are not stored as reusable application state. OpenAI may retain limited information for security and abuse monitoring under its applicable API policies. AI suggestions are drafts and are not legal, medical, or educational compliance advice.
Storage, security, and retention
Family records are protected by account-based access controls. Private files are stored in a non-public family folder. We retain account and family information while the account is active and as reasonably needed for service, security, payment, and legal obligations. Parents can download their data and request or initiate deletion.
Your choices and rights
You may request access, correction, export, or deletion of your information. Depending on where you live, additional privacy rights may apply. We may verify the requester’s identity before fulfilling a request. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising a privacy right.
International use and policy changes
Our providers may process information in the United States and other locations where they operate. If this policy materially changes, we will update the effective date and provide notice when appropriate.
